A Treat for the Birds

1 pine cone any size (it’s good if it’s opened)

peanut butter (can be warmed slightly to make it spread more easily)

bird seed for wild birds

piece of string about 3 feet or one metre long

Roll the pine cone in the peanut butter, or spread it on with a knife.

Roll the cone in bird seed so the seeds stick to the peanut butter.

Place the cone at the mid point in the string, wrap the string around the cone a couple of times and tie firm knots.

Hang the cone from a branch, clothes line, fence, or wherever cats will find it hard to pounce.

Watch the happy birds.
